Arts and Culture Journalism
From new music and TV reviews to dispatches on music and AI and thinkpieces about Internet culture, I’ve written about it all. I believe arts and culture are windows into our societal values and portals into our collective unconscious, and I’m dedicated to covering them with as much rigor and spice as possible (and a bit of humor now and then, when merited).
Below, see my article for Slate on the exquisite dissonance of Julia Garner’s potrayal of Anna Delvey in “Inventing Anna”:

Poetry
I’ve always had a special love for poetry. After many years of reading and writing it, my debut collection, Prisms, was published in June 2024 by Bottlecap Press! The collection explores climate change, cross-country road trips, talking trees, interdimensional cafes, illness, transformation, rebirth, and much more. I’m so happy to have it out in the world. Check it out here.
(One of the poems was previously published in Humana Obscura, which you can read here).

Travel Blogging
I love nothing more than distilling my travel experiences into stories and have always kept travel blogs during my various adventures, usually under the name Ink Roads. In August 2021, I embarked on a solo cross-country road trip and blogged about my journey on Substack, posting travelogues about everything from the brokenness of America and the scars of colonialism to poetry written in different national parks across the USA. Today, I use the Substack to share poetry, thoughts, and new travel experiences.
In 2024 I embarked on an international backpacking trip with no return date, and launched a new website to chronicle the journey.
I adore writing about the natural world and the fascinating people I tend to meet on the road, and I find that the places I visit come alive in a whole new way when I look at them through a journalistic lens. Each of these blogs has been a gift to write, just as each journey has been a gift in and of itself.

Music
In my spare time, I’m a singer-songwriter, and I released my first EP of original songs in March 2020. Over the years I’ve performed at Sofar Sounds, the Bowery Electric, and numerous work parties, to name a few. I had my EP release show for this album at the Delancey, a week before lockdowns started. In 2023 I re-emerged with the climate change-themed debut single from my upcoming album “Portals,” and released two more songs in early 2024.
While journalism is my trade, music is a fundamental part of everything I do. I believe my own artistic craft makes me a better journalist, both in terms of liaising with artists and writing about arts and culture.
I am also fascinated by ways music can be a devotional or healing tool, reaching deep into the subconscious in a unique way I find myself moved by again and again.

Group Facilitation
Inside and outside of work, I love to bring people together in pursuit of a shared goal, and facilitating groups comes naturally to me.
From 2021-2022, I lived at the now-defunct Convent Art House, a collective based in a former nunnery in San Francisco, and while there, I began hosting bimonthly women’s circles that morphed into moon circles.
In 2023 I returned to New York City and moved into Casa Siento, a spirituality and ecology-focused home where I also led many moon circles and seasonal events.
Over the years, I’ve also led numerous online groups, including an “art accountability group,” a 12-week course designed to help artists achieve their goals. I launched the course for the first time in 2020 and hosted a second installment in late 2023. In 2022, I also launched a six-week course for songwriters, which featured weekly prompts and live workshops.

Climate Writing
I’ve written extensively about climate change over the years, covering the issue from numerous angles.
In 2020, I began volunteering with Sunrise NYC. Sunrise is a youth-led climate justice organization focused on securing good jobs and a livable future for all. During my tiIe there, launched the hub’s first book club in partnership with the New York Public Library, and also founded and led the hub’s first climate writing team. As head of the team, I facilitated weekly meetings, implemented a rotating leadership schedule, created, managed, and edited the hub’s Medium page, and wrote tons of social media and website copy. (I also somehow wound up reading a poem about climate change to Chuck Schumer).
One piece I am particularly proud of creating for the Sunrise NYC writing team is called “Visions of a Green New Deal.” It’s a collection of stories and poems by hub members and friends that paints a picture of what a Green New Deal future could look like.
I believe stories shape our identities and therefore create our future, and this piece was an effort to gather new climate stories that could lead to a better world.

Travel and Nature Writing
Abandoned places. Ancient trees. Road trips. Hidden wonders, buried lessons, and new ways to experience the mysteries and tragedies of the interconnected worlds around and within us. Travel writing is my bread and butter, and I’ll happily write about any place — though my heart lies with haunted and history-laden places. I also love to write travel stories through social justice and environmental lenses, and I am passionate about helping readers connect more deeply with the places they visit and with the natural world on the whole.
Check out my Atlas Obscura article on radiation-eating fungi below (I was lucky enough to find and speak to one of the actual Ukranian scientists who worked on the research that identified these incredible fungi for this piece).
-
Interviews
I love doing interviews, and I find that every time I interview someone, I’m surprised and honored by the amount of honesty and depth they’re willing to share with me.
I’ve done unforgettable interviews with everyone from Jada Pinkett-Smith to Auli’i Cravalho, and my favorite chats have always been with artist-activists who are deeply passionate about their unique visions. Check out one below.

Editing
I have over five years of professional editorial experience. After several internships, including a stint at Lilith Magazine, I began my editorial career as the deputy editor at Geist Media’s editorial properties in 2019 and began spearheading the freelancer program in 2020. At Geist, I was responsible for hiring freelancers and commissioning and editing their work, and I also frequently edited staff writers’ pieces.
After that, I was the Assistant Editor of Celebrity and Entertainment at Vox Media’s POPSUGAR, where I specialized in interviews and long-form content and also assisted with content strategy and news judgment.
I am well-versed in all things SEO, and I am always looking for new ways to reach readers. I also have years of copyediting experience am fluent in AP Style. I love editing as much as I love writing, and there’s nothing like the feeling of chipping away at the excess and fluff of someone’s writing until its true message shines through.

Copywriting
I spent six months working as a copywriting apprentice for Renaissance Messaging in 2022, and I also have experience writing sponsored content for Trueself, Journiest, Popdust, and other sites.

Podcasting and Audio
While working at Geist, I launched a podcast called “Crossroads Cafe,” which focused on the intersections of spirituality, ecology, the arts, and social change. I interviewed everyone from ambient music pioneer Laraaji to rave journalist Michelle Lhooq for the show, and every single conversation was enlightening and eye-opening. I also recorded, edited, and produced every episode.
I also studied audio production at Columbia University and have taken several production courses online since graduating, and am proficient at Logic Pro X.
-
Social Media
I was responsible for writing every tweet and Facebook post for all of my Geist and POPSUGAR articles and events, so I am quite familiar with what constitutes a successful post on those platforms.
I also led the Instagram team for Sunrise NYC for two years, and grew the account from 1K to 10K followers in six months (with the help of a few AOC reposts, and a lot of analytics research and graphic design training along the way).
I see social media as both a blessing and a curse but believe it can be a powerful agent for forging connections and even disrupting hegemonies if used the right way.

Zines
In April 2020, I co-created a zine and live event called “Unearth,” which focused on ecofeminism and environmental justice. I’ve been creating zines for years, and I ran a multimedia publication called “Crossroads” while in college.
You can find the zine portion of “Unearth,” which features an introduction by me, by clicking the link below.

Event Planning
I love organizing events, and after live performances shut down in 2020, I knew the time was ripe for online performances. That year, I co-coordinated a live performance to coincide with the release of my environmental justice-focused zine “Unearth.” The three-hour show featured poets, musicians, and activists, and it was the first of many online shows I’ve organized over the past few years.
I also started planning and hosting live benefit concerts for Popdust, and single-handedly solicited artists, coordinated performances, promoted the events on social media, and hosted the shows.
In San Francisco, I organized a successful live concert called Divine Acoustics, which was held in the chapel of the former convent where I resided at the time. Then, after returning to New York, I also hosted a nature-based ritual for the release of my first single from my debut album, and later hosted an experimental concert and performance art show in honor of the second and third singles.
I have also MCed for Sofar Sounds and have helped bring many other events to life. I generally thrive in the wonderfully hectic environment of a live event, online or off.
-
Musical Theatre Writing
I have always been a lover of poetry, but Beat poetry became an obsession of mine when I was in high school. After starting at Barnard, I began looking into the women of the Beat Generation, and I discovered Joyce Johnson’s memoir “Minor Characters.”
I spent the next two years writing and composing an original musical about female Beat poets. “The Other Side” was performed at Barnard in October 2018. I did an immense amount of research, composed and transcribed 16 original songs, music directed the show, and accompanied the performances on the piano, and had the time of my life doing it all.

Miscellaneous Skills and Experience
As this page shows, I do a lot of different things… but the common thread between them, in my eyes, is my love of telling and sharing meaningful stories.
But here are some other fun facts:
I’m an extremely fast writer (I’ll challenge anyone to a typing competition) and love covering breaking news.
I’m generally willing to travel anywhere for a story.
I also write fiction and have written several novels, including one about intergenerational trauma and one about love in the time of AI. I also have a poetry chapbook in the works.
I love to balance long and short-form work and am happiest when working on multiple projects.
I love being a part of a team, and strive to be a supportive resource for all my colleagues.
Graphic design is my passion (but seriously, I love to design flyers, social media posts, and the like). I also have a lifelong love affair with fonts.
I’ve spent weeks staying and studying with a philosopher-druid-peace activist in France and Buddhist nuns in Thailand.
In college, my favorite classes were Sorcery & Magic and Reincarnation & Technology.
I’m generally enrolled in some kind of online course or another at any given time, and have taken classes in spiritual ecology, the Work that Reconnects, eco-art therapy, enlightenments across religions, audio production, sound healing, and many more over the years.
I also generally like to be volunteering somewhere, and have worked with 821 Valencia in San Francisco and the New Sanctuary Coalition and Collective Focus in NYC in the past. I also believe it’s critical to treat social issues at their roots, which is why climate change — a driver of economic inequality, illness, migration flows and so many more interlocking problems — is the primary issue I’ve chosen to focus on. (Of course this also means fighting white supremacy, capitalism, and other systems that helped create and continue to perpetuate climate change).
Some of my other favorite subjects to discuss include dreams, witchcraft, deep ecology, religion, AI ethics, and the state of digital media today.
